1.8 Million SharkNinja pressure cookers recalled after burn reports

After multiple reports of burns, nearly two million popular pressure cookers were recalled by the Consumer Product Safety Commission on Thursday.

More than 50 out of 100-plus people have reported second- or third-degree burns from the Ninja Foodi Multi-Function Pressure Cooker, which also functions as an air fryer, the agency said.

All Ninja Foodi OP300 series products have lids that can loosen and let out steam, risking burn injuries. Customers reported the pressure cooker could be opened during use “causing hot contents to escape,” the agency said.

In its recall notice, the agency said affected devices have a 6.5-quart capacity; 1.85 million of the devices were sold in the United States, and 184,240 were sold in Canada.

More than two dozen lawsuits have been filed against the Needham, Mass.-headquartered SharkNinja company over the product’s malfunction, according to the New York Times.

Model numbers — printed on a label on the side of the product — to be on the lookout for are: OP300, OP301, OP301A, OP302, OP302BRN, OP302HCN, OP302HAQ, OP302HW, OP302HB, OP305, OP305CO or OP350CO.

Customers are directed to stop using the pressure cooker function immediately and contact the manufacturer for a replacement lid. The product’s air frying and other functions can still be used.

The Ninja Foodi Multi-Function Pressure Cooker, which range in price from $120 and $250, is sold by Walmart, Costco, Sam’s Club, Amazon,Target stores and online retailers.
