A Long Island teenager was fatally shot inside a Suffolk County home over the weekend, and his suspected killer has been arrested, police said Sunday.
Bryan Ventura-Ramirez, 20, has been charged with second-degree manslaughter in the death of Robin Moscoso-Hernandez, 17, inside a North Amityville residence, Suffolk County Police said in a press release.
Ventura-Ramirez lived in the North Amityville home where the shooting occurred, about 30 miles east of Central Park, cops said. Moscoso-Hernandez, a Bethpage resident, was described by police as an acquaintance of the suspect.
Officers responded to the scene just before 9 p.m. on Saturday night, according to police. They found Moscoso-Hernandez suffering from a single gunshot wound to his chest.
The teenager was rushed to Good Samaritan Hospital in West Islip, but he was pronounced dead at the facility, cops said.
In addition to second-degree manslaughter, Ventura-Ramirez was also charged with criminal possession of a firearm. He was scheduled for arraignment Monday in Suffolk County district court.
Police did not provide further details on what led up to the shooting, if anyone else was in the home at the time of the crime or who called 911 to report Moscoso-Hernandez’s injuries.
