Two men have been arrested for allegedly stealing approximately $60,000 from a newlywed couple during their wedding reception in California, officials said late Friday.
The suspects, Armean Shirehjini and Andranik Avetisyan, are accused of crashing a wedding reception in Glendale, about 10 miles north of Los Angeles, in the early hours of Sunday before walking away with a gift box stuffed with cash and checks.
Surveillance footage showed a man dressed in all black going into the ballroom, grabbing the box and rushing for the exit, the Glendale Police Department said. He then got into a black SUV waiting for him outside and fled the scene.
After reviewing the surveillance video and gathering evidence over the past week, police identified Shirehjini as the primary suspect and Avetisyan as his getaway driver.
On Thursday, detectives executed search warrants at their Los Angeles homes and recovered “a large amount of cash and dozens of checks made out to the victims from the wedding.”

Additionally, investigators also recovered “several firearms and various narcotics” from the suspects’ residences.
Detectives are still reviewing a “significant amount of evidence” and expect to continue working through the weekend, police said late Friday, adding that the investigation is ongoing.
