Detectives were investigating on Wednesday after police conducting a welfare check found two dead bodies inside a home in Greenwich.
Officers made the grim discovery in the affluent neighborhood of Old Greenwich on Tuesday, the Greenwich Police Department said in a statement Wednesday afternoon.
“Upon arrival, officers discovered two deceased individuals inside the residence. At this time, there is no known threat to the public,” the department said.
After notifying next-of-kin, authorities identified the two victims as Suzanne Adams, 83, and Stein Erik Soelberg, 56. Both lived at the home at 11 Shorelands Place, police said, though they didn’t offer any details on how the two were related.
Authorities also didn’t say who requested the welfare check or what condition the bodies were in.
A cause and manner of death are pending an investigation by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
Old Greenwich is a historic, quietly wealthy enclave at the eastern end of the Fairfield County coastal town of Greenwich. Jutting out on a peninsula into Long Island Sound, the village of about 6,600 residents was the original settlement in what would later expand into the larger town.
Greenwich, a 63,000-population town abutting New York State’s Westchester County, was home to 10 of Connecticut’s 14 billionaires as of 2023.
