2 people stabbed to death at Italian deli in Bethpage, L.I.

Two people were stabbed to death Thursday morning at an Italian deli on Long Island, authorities said.

One person was arrested in the case, according to Nassau County police. Neither the victims, a man and a woman, nor the suspect have not been publicly identified.

Witnesses said the victims were an elderly couple that ran the deli in Bethpage, and the suspect was their son, WABC reported.

“I just saw the son walking out and he said, ‘I just stabbed my parents,’ and that was it,” Joe Boros told the station. “This is the worst thing that ever happened to me in my lifetime, and I’m 97 years old.”

Cops said the man walked into A&A Italian Deli and Pizza on Hicksville Road around 9 a.m., stabbed two people and then walked out, according to WCBS. Cops did not release further details in the case but said a press conference would be held later on Thursday.

“The entire community knows this deli,” resident Alicia Garbanero told WCBS. “Everyone, you can ask anyone in the community, they all love the family. Just kind, funny, good, old fashioned Italian family. Everyone loved going in there. The food was great. It’s heartbreaking.”
