2-year-old boy falls to his death from 20th floor in Newark



A 2-year-old New Jersey boy died early Saturday after reportedly falling from the 20th floor of an apartment building in Newark, officials said.

Police were dispatched to Elizabeth Towers, a 22-story complex at 455 Elizabeth Ave., around 7 a.m. after receiving reports that a child had fallen from a window, according to the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office.

The child, who has not been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The incident remained under investigation as of Saturday afternoon, Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens II and Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda said in a joint statement.
