3 keys to a Giants win over Cowboys

GET MALIK THE BALL EARLY

Brian Daboll inexplicably has gotten rookie receiver Malik Nabers only one catch for 13 yards on four targets in the first quarters of the Giants’ last five games. Nabers went off in the locker room about a “soft as f–k” team and pointed to the coach for the offense’s shortcomings after Sunday’s target-less first half. If Daboll can’t get Nabers the ball early at Dallas, the Giants will continue not to score. They have no points in the first halves of their last two games. And this will be another dysfunctional blowout with players, possibly Nabers, flying off the handle again.

PLAY WITH 100% EFFORT

Jermaine Eluemunor was right when he observed after Sunday’s loss that there were Giants players playing with less than 100% effort. That was unacceptable and a terrible reflection on Joe Schoen and Daboll, and it embarrassed the entire organization. If there are any repeats of that loafing, the Giants have no chance to compete, let alone have a chance to win.

SACK COOPER RUSH

The Giants’ vaunted pass rush has only one sack of a quarterback in their past three games. Dexter Lawrence, Brian Burns and Kayvon Thibodeaux need to show up and star for New York to have a chance. Stopping the run is just as important for a defensive line that is allowing big holes and sprints into a second level that isn’t tackling well. But the Giants’ measly nine takeaways, including only interception, is also a result of not creating enough pressure and turnovers on the man with the ball. Lawrence, Burns and Thibodeaux must step up.
