Three teens have been arrested for the fatal shooting of a 19-year-old Bronx man just blocks from his home as detectives investigate a possible gang connection to the shooting, officials said Friday.
Detectives from the 47th Precinct arrested the three suspects, two 15-year-old boys and a 16-year-old boy, on Thursday for shooting Jahmir Turner in the back on Secor Ave. near Conner St. in Baychester, police said.
Turner was near the corner at about 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday when the three suspects stormed up to him and opened fire, hitting him in the back. It was not immediately clear how many of the teens opened fire.
Medics rushed the victim to Jacobi Medical Center, where he died, cops said. He was just a few blocks from his home when he was shot.
The three were seen fleeing the scene after the shooting, cops said.
The three teens are charged with murder, manslaughter and weapons possession. Their names weren’t released because of their age.
Police sources said Turner had a criminal record. Detectives were working on a theory that Wednesday’s shooting could be related to an ongoing gang beef in the area.
The victim lived in NYCHA’s Boston Secor Houses, but Turner’s family couldn’t be reached on Thursday. When the Daily News visited his family’s apartment, it was under renovation.
“I remember he was a good kid,” said one neighbor who wished not to be named. “I would see him, he’d say hello, we’d keep it moving. He grew up here. It’s tragic what happened. It’s sad.”
Turner’s killing was the first murder this year in the Bronx’s 47th Precinct, which covers Woodlawn, Williamsbridge and Baychester.
As of Sunday, there were already four shootings in the precinct — three more than this time last year.
Cops in the Bronx had seen a 24% drop in shootings in the borough last year, from 334 in 2024 to 252.
Yet the Bronx was responsible for more than one-third of homicides and shootings in the city in 2025, cops said.
