Four people were discovered dead in Tennessee amid an ongoing investigation into a baby found abandoned in a backyard earlier in the day, police said.
Authorities have so far declined to provide details about the bodies, including where and exactly when they were found, WREG reported. None of their names have been released.
The discovery came hours after deputies from the Dyer County Sheriff’s Department were called to a residence along Old Highway 20, near the Tigrett area on Tuesday. When they arrived on the scene around 3 p.m., they found a 7-month-old girl strapped into a car seat and abandoned in the front yard of a home. The baby, who was not hurt, has not yet been identified, but investigators believe she is connected to the four bodies found.
Authorities at this time think the girl was dropped off by a dark-colored minivan or white midsize SUV. They also believe she was left at a random residence, as opposed to the home of someone she or her family knew.
Following the discovery, police said they were searching for Cortney Rose, Matthew Wilson, and Adrianna Williams, though it is unclear what ties they have with the child. It is also unclear whether they were among the four people found dead Tuesday evening.
“This is a deeply saddening day for our community,” said Dyer County Sheriff Jeff Box. “We are committed to uncovering the truth and ensuring justice is served.”
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is assisting in the probe.
