“90 Day Fiancé” star David Murphey has died. He was 66.
Murphey’s family confirmed his passing in a statement on his Instagram page Wednesday.
“We are deeply saddened to announce that David Murphey, of Las Vegas, Nevada, passed away at home on December 11, 2024 after experiencing health issues over the last several years. He was 66 years old,” the family wrote.
“David was a veteran, small business owner, and software engineer,” the statement continued. “He had recently retired from the Clark County Treasurer’s office in Nevada, having also worked for H&R Block and IGT.”
Murphey’s family said that his experience on Season 4 of “90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days” that aired in 2020 “allowed him to connect with viewers, see the world, and share his experiences with his thousands of followers on Instagram.
“He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and fans. David has survived by his two sisters and his cat Gamera. The family asked for privacy during this difficult time,” the statement added.
At the end of the message, Murphey’s loved ones noted the late star “had a fierce love for cats” and “always made an effort to adopt cats and give them a good loving home.”
The family told fans that they can donate to The Animal Foundation in his honor.
Murphey appeared on the fourth season of the “90 Day Fiancé” spinoff that follows couples whose relationships begin online and documents their first in-person meetings.
The Las Vegas native had a relationship with Lana, who he met on a Ukrainian dating website. They met in-person on Murphey’s fifth visit to Ukraine, and they later got engaged.
However, Murphey and Lana eventually broke up.
Murphey discussed the split on an episode of “90 Day Diaries that aired in April 2022.
“She thought that, ‘Well, now that we’re engaged, now you can help me do the things that you promised,’ like, get her some English lessons, actually move her into an apartment,” he told his friend Jim.
“But part of my conditions for doing that was to get her off the [dating] website and she didn’t get off the websites, so I didn’t offer any of those bonuses, so four months into our engagement, we just stopped communicating,” Murphey added.
He also revealed on the episode that he was chatting with a woman named Olga from Ukraine on a dating site.
After Murphey and Lana’s split, he sparked dating rumors with another one of his co-stars, Amira Lollysa. He posted a video on Instagram of the pair hanging out in Las Vegas
