An off-duty NYPD officer was arrested for assault after slapping her husband, then grabbing his phone to keep him from calling the police, officials said Monday.
Sheila Nunez Lopez, 28, was quarreling with her spouse around 1:26 a.m. Sunday in a building on E. 141st St. and Willis Ave. in Mott Haven when, with an open hand, she started smacking him in the face, neck and chest, cops said.
When the husband tried to call 911, cops said Lopez lunged for his phone, and in the process, ripped a chain off his neck. She was arrested 14 minutes after the clash; the husband suffered minor lacerations.
Lopez was released on her own recognizance after her Sunday night arraignment in Bronx Criminal Court.
