A New Jersey doctor was struck by a boat he’d just been tossed out of by rough waters over the weekend.
Karl Chen, 56, and another man were thrown from their 27-foot vessel when it hit a wake in Little Egg Harbor Township Sunday morning, according to NJ.com.
State Police reportedly found that Chen was hit by that boat as it circled Barnegat Bay. The other passenger suffered minor injuries. An apparent friend of “Captain Seasick” posted a message on Facebook honoring Chen.
“RIP Karl Chen – Friend, Father, Familyman, fellow Fisherman and amazing physician. You will never be forgotten,” wrote Mike Formichella. “Thoughts and prayers for your amazing family. You will be missed Capt. Seasick.”
St. Peter’s Healthcare Systems reportedly confirmed the “tragic” death of the physician who’d been a member of Saint Peter’s University Hospital’s medical staff for 25 years.
A passenger was thrown off a boat in Barnegat Bay in August when his boat hit a 20-foot whale, according to radio station New Jersey 101.5. The boater survived, but the whale was reportedly found dead in the bay.
