Their love story is evermore.
Taylor Swift entered her bridal era on Tuesday when she announced that three-time Superbowl champ Travis Kelce got down on one knee and asked her to be his lifelong lover.
But to get there, it took Kelce making a grand gesture straight out of “Say Anything” — the kind of risky move that was worthy of one of Swift’s wistful ballads.
When that failed, he called her out publicly. That certainly got her attention.
“I was like if this guy isn’t crazy, um — which is a big if — this is sort of what I’ve been writing songs about wanting to happen to me since I was a teenager,” Swift recently gushed.
“It was wild, but it worked. I’m glad it worked.”
The fearless news dropped just two weeks after the titan pair dished about their love story on Kelce’s “New Heights” podcast — where Swift cheekily thanked the program from getting her a “boyfriend.”
The Kansas City tight end, for his part, revealed that it was Swift’s global sensation Eras Tour that left him entranced — with a burning desire the meet the captivating woman at the center of it all.
“I was so engulfed in the curiosity of who you were,” he said on the Aug. 13 podcast episode, where Swift announced her 12th album, “The Life of a Showgirl.”
Without that, he said on the podcast, “I would have never went on here and told everybody how butthurt I was.”
The football star lamented on the show – which he co-hosts with NFL brother Jason – in July 2023 that he fumbled the chance to give the global superstar a friendship bracelet with his phone number on it when he attended her record-breaking Eras Tour at Kansas City’s Arrowhead Stadium — his own home turf.
The “Cruel Summer” singer, during her podcast debut, said her future husband had tried to use his relationship with the woman who runs the stadium elevator to get backstage, but was turned away.
“He came with [Patrick Mahomes] and he thought because he knows the elevator lady that he could talk to her about just getting down to my dressing room,” the 14-time Grammy-winner said.
“That’s how it worked in 1973. He was really just like I know a guy I can figure this out.”
That’s when he turned to his podcast to put the “Blank Space” singer on blast.
The pop icon compared that move to something straight out of an ‘80s John Hughes film – saying it was a modern day version of “standing outside my window with a boombox like, ‘I want to date you! Do you want to go on a date with me? I made you a friendship bracelet! Do you want to date me?’”
The “Look What You Made Me Do” hitmaker said they began talking shortly after.
During their first date she outed herself as a total football neophyte with the “most insane question” about playing in the Super Bowl against his former Eagles center brother.
“I legitimately asked him what it was like when the Chiefs played the Eagles in the Super Bowl, and he looked across the line of scrimmage and saw his brother standing five feet away from him,” the global sensation recounted, admitting she knew nothing about football.
Swift revealed Kelce was left speechless — because both brothers played offense and wouldn’t be on the field at the same time.
“He didn’t even look at me,” Swift laughed.
But, in short order she went from not even knowing what a tight end is to becoming a red-blooded football fan.
“I fell in love with it, I became obsessed with it,” she said.
Before the songstress was enchanted to be engaged, the duo, both 35, sent sparks – and dating rumors – flying when defunct news site The Messenger reported that they had been “quietly hanging out” in New York City.
Swift’s dedicated fans were convinced the two were canoodling when she made headlines in September rocking an opal necklace, which is Kelce’s birthstone, amid the swirling romance rumors.
That same month, Kelce was also spotted wearing a beaded friendship bracelet featuring lyrics from one of Swift’s songs on his wrist at a Kelce Car Jam charity event.
Despite the tight end claiming in September 2023 that he was “still searching” for love, his brother cryptically told “Thursday Night Football” viewers that his younger sibling was “having fun” but would not comment further.
Then they went public when she attended the Chiefs’ Sept. 24, 2023 match against the Bears at Arrowhead and broke the internet.
But the pop queen scoffed at the idea that was the first time they hung out together.
“I think some people think that they saw our first date at the game?” Swift said on the podcast, referring to when she was seen sporting red and cheering on her new beau with his mom, Donna Kelce, in his stadium suite.
“We would never be psychotic enough to hard launch a first date.”
After the game, the affectionate twosome sent Swifties into a tizzy as they drove off in the NFL player’s getaway car.
Since then, the lovebirds have been spotted on several date nights in the Big Apple and Kansas City, lavish vacations and at sporting events.
And they’ve both actively supported the other’s career.
Swift has attended several Chiefs games with her A-list pals, and Kelce was seen at many Eras Tour stops, even joining her on stage at her London concert during the pre-performance “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart” skit.
Their chart-topping romance swiftly sent engagement rumors into overdrive.
Swift and Kelce shared the news Tuesday that the hitmaker is now bejeweled with an old mine brilliant-cut diamond in a gold bezel setting, which was designed by the football player himself.
Photos showed Kelce getting down on one knee in a beautiful garden as Swift appeared over the moon as she hugged and kissed her new fiancé before the pair posed for photos.
“Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married 🧨,” they captioned several photos from the dreamy proposal on Instagram.
Kelce apparently popped the question “a couple of weeks ago,” Page Six confirmed.
