A New Hampshire mother who killed her husband and two of her children as well as herself had been accused of embezzling more than $660,000 from her employer before she carried out the grisly murder-suicide earlier this month.
All four people were found fatally shot inside a home in Madbury, northwest of Portsmouth, the morning of Aug. 18. Police said Emily Long gunned down her husband, 38-year-old Ryan Long, their 8-year-old son, Parker and their daughter, 6-year-old Ryan, with a handgun, which she then turned on herself.
The couple’s toddler was found at the home unharmed and has since been placed with family.
Prior to the deadly violence, Emily worked as the operations manager for Wing-Itz and its owner, Derek Fisher, had recently accused her of stealing thousands from the chain of chicken restaurants, according to police records cited by the Boston Globe.
Fisher told WMUR he’d been working with Emily since 2018. Despite their years of together, he felt he had no other option but to call authorities when he learned his co-worker had been stealing from his business. He said he started looking into the funds back in June, specifically after he “noticed there were a lot of handwritten checks being deposited into her bank account,” WCVB reported.
Fisher alleged the embezzlement began back in January 2023 and lasted until the scheme was uncovered.
“Given her circumstances with her husband, I was trying to be considerate and patient,” he told the news station.
Emily often posted on TikTok about her struggles with depression as well her husband’s diagnosis with brain cancer. On her account, she billed herself as a “Brain Cancer Wife.”

Fisher also said he is no longer interested on collecting the money Emily stole.
“Anything that’s left should go to that child,” Fisher told the outlet. “He deserves all of it. It’s not fair to him. He didn’t make this happen, and he didn’t deserve this.”
