Zoe Kravitz shades ‘Carrie Diaries’ to show’s star Austin Butler

We couldn’t help but wonder what Zoë Kravitz thinks about “The Carrie Diaries.”

During Vanity Fair’s “Lie Detector” interview with Kravitz and her “Caught Stealing” co-star, Austin Butler, the director was asked which “Sex and the City” spinoff was better.

Kravitz’s options were the show’s prequel or “And Just Like That…”

“Neither,” the “Big Little Liars” alum stated. “Leave that show alone. Everybody just stop.”

“The Carrie Diaries” ran for two seasons in 2013 and 2014 on the CW and followed a high school-aged Carrie Bradshaw living in New York City in the 80s. Butler, 34, played Sebastian Kydd, Carrie’s (AnnaSophia Robb) love interest.

After Kravitz’s answer, Butler tossed a few of the papers he had in his hand behind him.

“Okay, all right, so then I’m gonna throw this guy out,” he said with a laugh. “And this guy out.”

Kravitz, 36, inquired what were on the papers, to which Butler responded, “Two pictures of me.”

The “Blink Twice” star then lowered her head in shame and quipped, “Okay, sorry. Didn’t know that.”

Butler had the lie detector tester confirm that Kravitz was being “truthful” about not knowing that Butler was on the show.

“Oops,” she exclaimed.

Butler then inquired if Kravitz was relieved that “And Just Like That…” recently ended after three seasons.

“I feel mixed feelings about it,” she admitted.

Kravitz also confessed her favorite “bats–t plotline” from the sequel.

“‘Favorite’ is a word I don’t think I can use for that show,” she explained. “There are some plotlines that confused me more than others. There were plotlines that made me more upset than others. Like the window! What was up with the window?”

Kravitz detailed a scene in which Carrie’s (Sarah Jessica Parker) long distance boyfriend Aidan (John Corbett) surprised her with a visit and accidentally broke her vintage window.

“And then the whole episode was about replacing the glass for the window,” Kravitz groaned. “And I’m just…”

“I liked Aidan,” Butler chimed in.

Kravitz simply replied, “You don’t anymore.”

Earlier this week, during a segment of the “Are You Okay?” show, Kravitz was asked what keeps her up at night.

“It’s a combination of death and ‘And Just Like That,’” she confessed. “Kind of go back and forth.”

She added that the track in her mind usually plays like, “Oh my God, I’m going to die. That’s crazy,” and then, “’And Just Like That’ — what happened there?”

Although the “Sex and the City” spinoff received major critiques over its three seasons, Parker, 60, revealed she was shocked to learn about the negative online chatter.

In particular, she was unaware that audience members disliked Sara Ramirez’s character Che Diaz.

“A friend of mine brought it up to me, and it’s like: ‘What are you talking about?’” Parker said in an interview with The Guardian in June. “And he said: ‘Yeah, there’s all this conversation.’”

Ramirez, 49, played Che Diaz in Season 1 before becoming Miranda’s love interest in Season 2. They left the show after the second season wrapped.

Parker told the outlet she doesn’t listen to backlash. “I’ve been an actor for 50 years, and I’ve almost never paid attention to peripheral chatter,” she explained.

The “Sex and the City” spinoff concluded its run on Aug. 14.

The show debuted in 2021 and saw Carrie, Miranda Hobbes (Cynthia Nixon) and Charlotte York (Kristin Davis) return, among a slew of new cast members. Kim Cattrall chose not to reprise her iconic part as Samantha Jones.

The series’ creator, Michael Patrick King, insisted the show wasn’t canceled but that he felt this was a good spot for the story to end.

“And just like that… the ongoing storytelling of the’ Sex And The City’ universe is coming to an end,” he wrote on X. “While I was writing the last episode of ‘And Just Like That…’ season 3, it became clear to me that this might be a wonderful place to stop.”
