Influencer found dead with husband and 2 kids, wrapped in plastic

The body of internet personality Esmeralda Ferrer Garibay, 32, was found wrapped in plastic inside a pickup truck along with three dead family members in Mexico.

Prosecutors said all four victims’ bodies were discovered Aug. 22 in a mechanics shop in Guadalajara, Mexico. They were later identified as Garibay, her 36-year-old husband and their children, who were 13 and 7, according to Univision.

Three men who work at that garage were detained, then released due to a lack of evidence against them. Investigators reportedly believe all four family members were killed where their bodies were found.

Garibay posted a TikTok video for her nearly 44,000 followers showing her joyfully unwrap a red Jeep vehicle that appeared to be a present last week. Previous postings showed Garibay showing off new outfits, often while visiting beaches, resorts and nightclubs.

Garibay and her family’s wrapped bodies were founds inside a gray 2025 Ford Ranger pickup truck, according to Mexican TV station Meganoticias Guadalajara.

Univision reported that prosecutors suspect Garibay’s husband, who bought and sold cars and worked in tomato production, may have been the the target of whomever was responsible for the apparent homicides.

In one of her posts she reportedly joked, “I don’t know why my husband won’t let me have a boyfriend” who deals drugs and buys her expensive things.
