The NFL “would always love” for Taylor Swift to play the Super Bowl halftime show, commissioner Roger Goodell confirmed amid speculation the pop superstar is slated for the world’s biggest stage.
The league honcho, 66, confirmed the 35-year-old Grammy winner’s open invite during Wednesday’s appearance on the “Today” show when asked whether Swift would indeed be playing Super Bowl LX.
“We would always love to have Taylor play,” said Goodell. “She is a special, special talent. And obviously, she would be welcome at any time.”
Asked whether such a plan was “in the works,” Goodell remained mum, but was willing to concede “it’s a maybe.”
Though Goodell confirmed he’s “definitely a Swiftie,” he’s “waiting on my friend Jay-Z” before announcing a performer.
“It’s in his hands. I’m waiting for the smoke to come out,” said Goodell of the Brooklyn-born rapper, 55, whose Roc Nation has consulted on the halftime shows since 2020.
Murmurs about Swift playing the halftime show have only ratcheted up sine she and Travis Kelce announced their engagement last week, with gambling site BetOnline.age immediately favoring her for the gig.
Many also anticipate this will be the 35-year-old Kansas City Chiefs tight end’s last season.
Kelce has played two Super Bowls since kicking off his love story with the “Lover” crooner, winning the first in 2024 and suffering a brutal 40-22 loss this past February, during which Kendrick Lamar’s halftime show was among the rare highlights.
That performance made history as the most-watched halftime show yet, with a record 133.5 million tuning in.
