Boy, 15, arrested for shooting Bronx man to death outside victim’s home

A 15-year-old boy has been arrested for shooting a Bronx father to death outside the victim’s Bronx NYCHA apartment building, police said Thursday.

Kelvin Mosquea got into an argument with two people in front of Soundview’s Sack Wern Houses around 1:10 p.m. Aug. 26, cops said.

“It happened right in front of the building in the middle of the street,” Mosquea’s brother-in-law Steve Ventimilla said. “He was hit just once.”

The victim was one of eight people fatally shot in the Bronx in a bloody two-week span, prompting Mayor Adams last week to vow to send 1,000 more cops to the borough to tamp down gun violence.

Mosquea was shot in the torso near Croes and Seward Aves., with the two people then rummaging through his pocket before running off. One shell casing and one bullet were recovered at the scene.

“He was very loving,” said the victim’s sister Beyonce Mosquea, 21. “He was our protector. He loved our family.”

Medics transported Mosquea to Jacobi Medical Center, where he died.

“He had a gunshot wound through and through in his chest. They tried to do CPR but he was already gone,” his sister said said. “We have no words this is devastating, we are heartbroken.”

Two days later, cops arrested a 15-year-old boy for the slaying and charged him with murder. His name was not released because he is underage.

Mosquea was a supervisor at a construction company and leaves behind a 6-year-old son.

“He was a good father who loved his boy,” neighbor Leslie Reyes, 28, a sales trainer, said.

During the two week span of violence, four gunman, two of them teens, were arrested for a wild Bronx park mass shooting that left one man dead and four victims wounded, including an innocent 17-year-old girl visiting her old neighborhood.

More than 40 shots were fired — and six guns later recovered — in the Aug. 23 shootout during a back-to-school community giveback basketball tournament at Haffen Park in Baychester.

Daeven Reyes, 20, and Robert Royal, 25, were taken into custody at the scene along with a 16-year-old boy and 17-year-old boy. All four were later charged with murder, attempted murder and gun possession.
