Nina Dobrev and Shaun White have called it quits after 5 years, just under a year after getting engaged.
An insider close to the “Vampire Diaries” star, 36, and 39-year-old Olympian told People that the split “was a mutual decision, and wasn’t an easy one, but it was made with love and a deep respect for one another.”
Representatives for Dobrev and the retired snowboarder — who were spotted holding hands late last month — did not immediately respond to the Daily News’ request for comment.
It’s unclear when they split. Dobrev last week posted several photos of the pair together. Two days later, Dobrev appeared without her engagement ring when appearing at the Toronto International Film Festival, according to People.
At the time of publication, Dobrev has left up many posts from the romance, which they confirmed in 2020. However, their engagement post is no longer pinned, as it reportedly had been since October.
At the time, Dobrev shared snaps of the pair locked in an embrace in New York, where White proposed at a surprise dinner. Shots of the beaming couple also give a glimpse of Dobrev’s five-carat teardrop diamond.
“RIP boyfriend, hello fiancé,” she captioned the post.
“She said YES,” White captioned his own.
Before competing in his final Olympics in 2022, White told People that he and Dobrev were “just enjoying our time together right now. No pressure.
“But I told her, I was like, ‘Look, after the Olympics, I finally got my freedom to do whatever. And let’s just have fun and be together and support each other,’” he continued. “But you never know. We’ll see what happens.”
Speaking to E! in recent months, Dobrev said she and White were “just enjoying being engaged at this point” and wanted to “not rush that process.”
