Queens house fire critically injures one person, hurts four others


Five people were hurt, one severely, when a two-story house in Queens was struck by a fast-moving fire early Friday morning, FDNY officials said.

Firefighters got the call about a house on fire on 124th St. between 15th and 18th Aves. in College Point around 6:20 a.m. and requested backup less than five minutes after arriving at the scene.

A total of 120 firefighters and EMS personnel responded to the two-alarm fire, which was brought under control about an hour later, around 7:20 a.m.

Among the five people injured in the inferno, one person was in critical condition Friday afternoon, officials said, while another person suffered moderate injuries and three others sustained minor injuries.

All are being treated at area hospitals. Their identities were not publicly released.

Fire marshals are investigating the source of the conflagration.
