Robert Redford was more than just a legendary actor — he was also a beloved grandfather.
Redford’s grandchildren reacted to his death at age 89 on Tuesday with heartfelt Instagram tributes that featured never-before-seen family photos.
Conor Schlosser, the son of Redford’s eldest daughter, Shauna Redford, posted five photos with the “Barefoot in the Park” star, including two throwback pictures from Conor’s childhood of the pair riding a horse and playing golf.
The 33-year-old also shared two more recent pictures with Redford, one of which showed them smiling at a dinner table.
“He was larger than life to the world, but to his family, he was simply that … family,” Schlosser wrote in his caption. “Rest in peace, Grandpa.🐎”.”
Conor also told fans, “If anyone has a favorite story of him you’d like to share, please send it to me in a private message—I’d love to collect them.”
Lena Hart Redford, the daughter of Redford’s late son, James Redford, also posted an abundance of pictures with the Hollywood legend in her own Instagram tribute.
Like her cousin, Lena, 29, shared new and old pictures to honor Redford. There were images of Lena horseback riding with Redford and spending time with him on a movie set. Lena also included a photo of her late father with Redford in the post, which she captioned with a red heart emoji.
In an Instagram Story tribute, Lena shared a throwback image of her and Redford wearing Kangol-brand beanies. “Taught me so much. … Had us all in Kangol,” she wrote.
Lena also posted a picture of Redford and James horseback riding. “Dad & grandpa, I feel like they are riding awesome horses in heaven,” she wrote.
Lena’s brother, Dylan Redford, shared a picture with his late grandfather on his Instagram Stories, writing, “He was best grampa a grandson could ask for. He also made amazing things, helped others make amazing things, and tried to make the world a better place.”
Redford’s rep, Cindi Berger, confirmed his death on Tuesday.
“Robert Redford passed away on Sept. 16, 2025, at his home at Sundance in the mountains of Utah — the place he loved, surrounded by those he loved,” Berger said in a statement to The Post.
“He will be missed greatly. The family requests privacy,” she added.
Redford was the father of four children — sons Scott and James, and daughters Shauna, 64, and Amy, 54 — whom he welcomed with his first wife, Lola Van Wagenen.
Scott died in 1959 at 2 months old due to sudden infant death syndrome. James died in 2020 at 58 after a battle with liver cancer.
“The hardest thing in the world is when your children have problems,” Redford told People in 1998. “There have been so many hits on our family that no one knows about, and I don’t want them to, for my family’s sake.”
The “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid” actor also called his children his “greatest achievement.”
Along with his two daughters and seven grandkids, Redford is survived by his second wife, German environmentalist and multimedia artist Sibylle Szaggars, who he married in 2009.
