Arnold Schwarzenegger said “Hasta la vista, baby” to his capital.
The actor, 78, joked about his high-profile divorce from Maria Shriver while speaking at Chris Wallace’s Hollywood Walk of Fame star ceremony on Thursday.
“The reason why I know he’s a fantastic journalist is because I know a lot about journalists,” explained Schwarzenegger. “I’ve been interviewed, you can imagine, in my lifetime, by thousands and thousands of journalists.”
“Not only that, I also was married to a journalist. The only difference between Chris and Maria is that Chris has never taken half of my money,” he teased.
Schwarzenegger and Shriver, 69, tied the knot in 1986 before separating in 2011. The exes finalized their divorce in 2021.
Schwarzenegger and Shriver share daughters Katherine, 35, and Christina, 34, and sons Patrick, 32, and Christopher, 27.
The “Terminator” star is also dad to son Joseph Baena, 27, with former housekeeper Mildred Patricia Baena, following an affair during his marriage.
In 2011, Shriver filed for divorce from Arnold following 25 years of marriage after finding out about his indiscretion. Earlier this year, the author opened up about that “brutal” moment.
In her memoir, “I Am Maria,” published in April, the author wrote that the news of Schwarzenegger’s infidelity came after she had just lost both her parents.
“I was consumed with grief and wracked with confusion, anger, fear, sadness and anxiety,” penned Shriver. “I was unsure now of who I was, where I belonged. Honestly, it was brutal, and I was terrified.”
She added, “As I sat on my hotel room floor in the dark, alone with tears streaming down my face, I thought to myself: Maria, this doesn’t have to be the end of you.”
Shriver also took a moment to reflect on the difficult period in her life.
“I’ve also had to come face to face with other misguided beliefs,” she concluded, “about aging, about being alone. I used to believe that if you didn’t have a partner, you must be unworthy and unlovable. I’ve learned that nothing could be further from the truth.”
Throughout the years, there has also seemingly been a rift between Schwarzenegger’s kids with Shriver and Baena.
The “DWTS” alum was allegedly excluded from Patrick’s wedding earlier this month.
TMZ reported on Sept. 9 that the half brother “wasn’t invited” to Patrick and Abby Champion’s Sept. 6 nuptials in Idaho.
Sources told the outlet that Baena was left off the invite list since he “has no relationship with that side of the Schwarzenegger fam.”
In June, Schwarzenegger celebrated Season 2 of his Netflix series, “FUBAR” with his kids, but posed for pictures with them in separate groups.
The former governor first took pictures with Katherine, Christina, Patrick and Christopher, and Katherine’s husband, Chris Pratt.
Schwarzenegger then posed with Baena for a series of paparazzi shots.
Meanwhile, in 2023, a source told Page Six that Baena has a good relationship with his dad but isn’t close with the other children.
“The other kids don’t love Joe,” the insider alleged at the time.
“It’s a shame as he’s a really good kid, and Arnold has always treated him like all his other kids — very fairly. But for whatever reason, the other kids take [the affair] out on Joe.”
In March, Baena also revealed why he chose to go by his mother’s surname.
“I think the main thing is I’m trying to do things on my own,” the bodybuilder explained to “Good Morning Britain.”
“My family is very big in supporting from afar and not being so hands-on,” confessed Baena. “I really appreciate that. I think it’s really important growing up as a man to do things on your own. To figure it out, that’s what I’ve been doing.”
Both Patrick and Baena have followed in Schwarzenegger’s footsteps and pursued a career in acting.
Patrick recently appeared in Season 3 of “The White Lotus,” while Baena starred in the action thriller “Gunner” in 2024.
“I’ve been working really hard,” he shared while on the talk show. “It was such an honor to be on the same film as Morgan Freeman, as Luke Hemsworth. Luke is amazing, they’re both amazing actors.”
Meanwhile, his half-brother, Chris debuted his drastic weight loss this past May.
“It was a big process,” he revealed while at the Beacher Vitality Happy & Healthy Summit in Los Angeles, per People.
“I started in 2019 when I was living in Australia. I was on this big trip. I made it a big [deal] like, ‘Oh, I’m going to go out and do all this stuff, be in Australia,’ and I just saw how much my weight was prohibiting me from doing the everyday activities.”
