Rick Hoffman addresses ‘Suits LA’ cancellation, spinoff rumors

Is Rick Hoffman ready for another Litt law firm?

The actor, 55, starred as the iconic Louis Litt in the USA legal drama “Suits” for nine seasons before the show ended in 2019.

Six years later, the verdict was in, and fans wanted more. NBC decided to debut its spinoff, “Suits LA.”

Hoffman busted out the briefcase and stepped back into Louis’ shoes for the series finale in May.

“It felt like I never left,” the star exclusively told The Post while promoting his new film “London Calling.”

“I would say the only difference is that it was about 30 pounds less of me, which, thank God, I got a lot more healthy.”

However, the show was canceled after one season on the grounds of low ratings.

“Yeah, unfortunately, it’s just one of those things that – a lot of things in television don’t last. So that was just the way it went,” Hoffman explained of the series being axed. “But it was, of course, how could you not say yes to stepping into the character that changed my career.”

Now, the USA alum doesn’t think returning again or a Louis Litt spinoff is on the docket.

Rick Hoffman returned in the series finale of “Suits LA.”

“Of course, if you asked me to do that character, there was never a no,” said Hoffman. “But I think other people felt different, and fans, that ship seems to have sailed. And I think, rightfully so. It was a nine-year run. It was the best thing I’ve ever experienced. A great job.”

Hoffman, who starred alongside Gabriel Macht, Sarah Rafferty, Meghan Markle, now Duchess of Sussex, Gina Torres and Patrick J. Adams, is still holding onto a piece of trivia that fans might not know about.

“I’m the one in real life that knows sports and the others don’t,” Hoffman revealed. “When Charles Barkley was on, I had to be put on FaceTime because I was away that week. Of course, he had scenes with Gabriel’s character, who knew sports.”

The New York native was an actual fan of the retired basketball pro, 62, who made a cameo as himself in Season 5, Episode 3 titled, “No Refills.”

“I’m the one who knows his rebounds and all of his statistics,” recalled Hoffman. “So luckily, Meghan and Sarah had put me on FaceTime with him because they knew how heartbroken I was. And he was like, ‘Rick, any time you want to come down to Atlanta, you come down and you visit.’ And then I ended up meeting him. And we became besties.”

These days, Hoffman has swapped his office suit for a tracksuit, taking on the role of crime boss Benson in the new action comedy “London Calling” opposite Josh Duhamel and Jeremy Ray Taylor.

“This was literally right after the strike,” Hoffman recounted about shooting the project. “Which was now two years ago or whatever it was. And ultimately, I just loved the idea of the action and the comedy infused. And Josh, who I had met years ago, just incredibly nice and kind. So that, and then say you get to fly to South Africa. I was like, Okay. Done.”

The “Billions” alum and Duhamel, 52, made the move in Cape Town, South Africa, getting into what Hoffman teased were “mature shenanigans.”

Hoffman, meanwhile, also reflected on how the industry has changed since he first landed his breakout role on “Suits” in 2011.

“I’ve been incredibly lucky to be working as much as I have,” confessed the “Ballers” vet. “However, things are still transitioning the way the business is now. It’s very different than when I first started ‘Suits.’”

“It’s been an interesting adjustment in the sense of the quality of projects,” he went on.

“Right now, everybody’s fighting for the quality. It’s not as easy to just jump on something fun and great. I’m fortunate enough to even have that choice. I’m hopeful that it will somehow circle back where there’s a little bit more out there for everyone.”

In the meantime, Hoffman is readjusting his expectations a bit.

“I just have to get used to being told no for the things that I really, really want,” said the star. “The way things are right now.”
