They couldn’t go on together with suspicious minds.
Priscilla Presley opened up about her marriage to Elvis – and the King’s many infidelities – during an interview with the “Today” show on Monday.
Despite calling the “All Shook Up” singer “very, very special,” she revealed that Elvis was often unfaithful during his famous seven-year residency in Las Vegas, which kicked off in 1969.
“Our life was very different, you know? Very, very different. And when he was in Vegas, you know, he was really starting his career back again into Vegas,” Priscilla, 80, began while promoting her newly released memoir, “Softly, As I Leave You: Life After Elvis.”
“We had a home in Palm Springs, a second home, and I would go there to check it out when he was in Vegas to see how it’s doing,” she continued, regarding their house away from Graceland. “If it’s clean, if the maids had cleaned everything before he comes home.”
But after checking their second home’s mailbox, Priscilla realized that her famous husband was receiving letters from “all girls” about things she “really disapproved of and didn’t like.”
“They would go and meet Elvis at the house on weekends when he went, and it was another life,” she explained. “Now, he would come home great and wonderful. He was still a good husband, but it was just too many of us.”
Priscilla, then only 14, met Elvis in 1959 when the “Hound Dog” crooner was serving with the US Army in Germany.
The couple married in Las Vegas in 1967 and welcomed a daughter, Lisa Marie Presley, one year later. Lisa Marie tragically passed away in 2023 from a small bowel obstruction. She was 54.
However, Priscilla filed for divorce from the King of Rock and Roll in 1972, and their split was finalized one year later.
But despite their divorce, the “Naked Gun” actress has insisted that she never stopped loving Elvis, who died of a heart attack in 1977 at 42.
“I did not divorce him because I didn’t love him – he was the love of my life, truly,” Priscilla shared during an interview in 2016. “If anything, I left because I needed to find out what the world was like.”
Priscilla, meanwhile, moved on from the “Suspicious Minds” singer and began dating Robert Kardashian, a relationship she detailed in her new memoir.
The pair linked up in 1975 on the heels of her split from Elvis, and Priscilla recalled one incident when the “Love Me Tender” singer called in the middle of the night as she was lying in bed alongside Kardashian.
“He’d have gone ballistic, maybe literally, if he’d known Robert was in my bedroom,” Priscilla wrote. “Elvis always carried a loaded gun, sometimes more than one.”
Priscilla and Kardashian stopped seeing each other in 1976 due to his “demanding” job as a lawyer, and he went on to marry Kris Jenner in 1978. Kardashian later passed away from esophageal cancer in 2003 at the age of 59.
As for Priscilla, she never remarried after Elvis. She did, however, welcome a son, Navarone Garibaldi, 38, with Marco Garibaldi Garcia, whom she dated from 1984 to 2006.
Elsewhere in “Softly, As I Leave You,” the actress blasted her late daughter’s short-lived marriage to Michael Jackson.
“I knew in my bones that Michael wasn’t marrying Lisa Marie; he was marrying the Presley dynasty,” Priscilla wrote regarding Lisa Marie’s marriage to Jackson, which only lasted from 1994 to 1996.
“Michael was a manipulative man,” she added, “and I think he had his sights set on her long before she realized it.”
