Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce’s KC-area mansions burglarized

The mansions of Kansas City Chiefs stars Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce were burglarized within hours of each other early last month, according to a new report.

A break-in at Mahomes’ Belton, Mo., estate was reported just before midnight on Oct. 6, TMZ reported Tuesday. Less than 24 hours later, at around 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 7, another burglary was reported at Kelce’s property in Leawood, Kan.

Despite technically sitting in separate states, the homes are only about 20 minutes apart in the Kansas City metro area.

Police said about $20,000 in cash was taken from Kelce’s home, according to TMZ. It’s unclear what, if anything, was stolen from Mahomes’ property.

Law enforcement sources told the outlet they suspect the break-ins were part of a larger crime spree in the south Kansas City area, even though both Mahomes and Kelce live in large, private estates.

Additionally, police did not say if Mahomes was home at the time of the burglary, TMZ reported. Kelce definitely was not, as the Chiefs were facing off in a home game against the New Orleans Saints on Monday Night Football at the time.

If either player was rattled by the crimes, it didn’t show in the game. Mahomes threw for 318 yards, and Kelce caught nine passes for 70 yards. Kansas City won 26-13.

But for their safety, Kelce and girlfriend Taylor Swift stayed in a hotel that night after learning about the burglary, according to TMZ.

Mahomes, 29, purchased his Belton property in 2020 and moved in last summer. In a Netflix documentary, Mahomes said he planned to stay in the Kansas City area for a long time and thought, “I might as well build the exact house I want.”

Kelce, 34, purchased his Leawood home in October 2023, just months after he started dating Swift. He said he bought the property because his earlier home didn’t provide enough privacy from the media.
