Several weekend shootings in Hartford leave 2 dead, 4 injured

Two people were killed and four others wounded in a variety of unrelated shootings throughout Hartford over the weekend, police said.

Dwight Watson, 43, was fatally shot on Brook St., around 9 p.m. Sunday, the Hartford Courant reported. Another person, who has not been publicly identified, was wounded in the same shooting, police said.

No arrests or suspects have been announced in that shooting. The second person suffered non-life-threatening injuries and self-transported to a local hospital, according to the Darien Times.

Two more shootings were reported in the city on Sunday afternoon, when two different people arrived at city hospitals with gunshot wounds, the Courant reported. Police did not release any further information on those incidents.

The Sunday afternoon incidents followed two additional shootings in the prior 24 hours. Around 1 a.m. Sunday, an unidentified person was shot and wounded on Franklin Ave., according to local NBC affiliate WVIT. That person was hospitalized in critical condition, later upgraded to stable.

And in the other deadly incident, 20-year-old Isaiah Molina was shot and killed inside a rental space named People’s Ballroom around 9 p.m. Saturday. No suspects have been identified in Ahkeen-Molina’s killing either, according to police.

The Hartford Police Department’s Major Crimes Division is investigating all five shootings, authorities said. Both Molina and Watson were Hartford residents.
