New details have come to light regarding Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban’s surprising split.
After news broke that the “Babygirl” star and country hitmaker are separating after nearly 20 years of marriage on Monday, a source close to the former couple revealed that it “really hasn’t been a secret” to their inner circle.
“People close to Keith felt like the split was kind of inevitable,” an insider told People, adding that Kidman and Urban have “been living separately for a while now.”
Another source told the outlet that the “Eyes Wide Shut” actress is leaning on her family for support amid her breakup from the former “American Idol” judge.
“Nicole’s sister has been a rock, and the entire Kidman family has come together to support one another,” they said.
The Post confirmed the news of Kidman and Urban’s separation on Monday.
“Sometimes relationships just run their course,” a source told Page Six, adding that Kidman “did not want the separation and was trying to save things” with Urban.
Additional sources claimed that the exes have been living separately “since the beginning of summer” and that “Keith has acquired his own residence in Nashville and has moved out of their family home,” per TMZ.
They further alleged that Urban initiated the separation, and that Kidman has been left “holding the family together through this difficult time since Keith has been gone.”
The “Aquaman” star, 58, and “Somebody Like You” singer, 57, share two daughters: Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 14.
Kidman and Urban, meanwhile, were last seen in public together just a few short months before news broke of their separation.
They were all smiles as they stood side by side at a 2025 FIFA Club World Cup match in Nashville, Tennessee, on June 20, giving no indication that their marriage was falling apart behind the scenes.
The Oscar winner and country superstar attended the game just five days before their 19th wedding anniversary, and only three months before the news of their split was first made public.
Kidman then shared a sweet black-and-white snap of herself and her hubby on social media five days later to celebrate 19 years of marriage.
“Happy Anniversary Baby,” she wrote.
But by Aug. 19, when the “Northman” star shared a cache of “summer memories” on Instagram, Urban was nowhere to be seen.
Kidman and the Grammy winner tied the knot on June 25, 2006, one year after meeting at the G’Day USA Gala in January 2005.
The “Big Little Lies” star opened up about the moment she first met Urban during an appearance on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” in 2017.
“I remember thinking, I had such a crush on him, and he wasn’t interested in me,” she shared at the time. “It’s true! He didn’t call me for four months.”
One year later, she revealed the secret to her and the country crooner’s marriage during an interview with People in 2018.
“I think it’s knowing that you have to keep contributing to what we call the ‘us.’ You go, ‘Does this work for us?,’” Kidman shared seven years before her and Urban’s split.
“When you make an us, it’s yours together — that’s what you create,” she added at the time. “Nobody else has that. It’s just between the two of you.”
The Post reached out to Kidman and Urban’s reps for comment, but did not immediately hear back.
