A Florida woman whose parents were murdered in 1990 said she forgives their killer — and plans to attend his Tuesday execution.
Victor Tony Jones was convicted of fatally stabbing Jacob and Matilda “Dolly” Nestor in their Miami home after the pair gave their killer work in the Florida office they established after moving south from New York in the 1960s.
During a botched robbery attempt, Jones first stabbed Matilda then killed Jacob, who first managed to shoot his assailant, according to WPLG Local 10.
The couple’s daughter, Irene Fisher, told the Miami station that cops arrived to find Jones wounded, in possession of Matilda’s pocketbook and drinking from a bottle of whiskey. He was later convicted of the double-murder and is expected Tuesday to become the 13th inmate executed in Florida in 2025. That’s already a record for one year.
Fisher said she isn’t holding a grudge, but feels the the death of her parents’ 64-year-old killer provides closure to a traumatic chapter in her life.
“I forgive him because it’s important for me to forgive him,” she told WPLG Local 10. “I won’t forget it.”
The Nestors were childhood sweethearts who married before Jacob left the U.S. to fight in World War II. He returned home to find success as an inventor who created medical instruments for doctors and held 16 patents, according to Fisher.
Barring a last minute reprieve, Jones will die by lethal injection shortly after 6 p.m.
