A Connecticut man was convicted Monday of sexually assaulting four underage girls he knew on multiple occasions between 2019 and 2022.
Rahmani Kabwe, a 42-year-old Bridgeport resident, was found guilty on all 14 counts he faced in the case, the Connecticut Division of Criminal Justice said in a press release. His sentencing hearing is scheduled for Nov. 24.
All four victims, who have not been publicly identified, testified against Kabwe in the case. How exactly they knew Kabwe was not disclosed.
“I was so impressed with the strength of the victims, one, in coming forward, and two, being able to testify in the case,” prosecutor Stephen Sedensky told the Connecticut Post.
Kabwe sexually assaulted three of the victims between 2019 and 2021, according to authorities. He was arrested and charged in connection with those crimes, then sexually assaulted another victim while out on bail in 2022, prosecutors said.
During the trial, an investigator with the Connecticut Department of Children Families testified that Kabwe told one girl that “when she gets older, he’s going to make her his wife.”
“The defendant’s behavior with those four girls is what brought us here,” Sedensky told the jury during closing arguments. “With all that evidence, you’re going to be able to come to one conclusion: That the defendant is guilty of each and every one of those charges.”
