Lady Gaga reveals her ‘next starring role’ is motherhood

Mother Monster has a good romance.

And thanks to her happy relationship with fiancé Michael Polansky, Lady Gaga is now looking ahead to tying the knot and becoming a mom.

The pop star, 39, whose real name is Stefani Germanotta, appeared on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” in a pre-taped episode on Thursday.

Gaga explained to the late-night host, 61, that she hopes motherhood is her next big adventure.

“I would like to do many things,” she admitted. “All of these things are open. But, what I really want is to be a mom. That’s my next starring role, I hope.”

This isn’t the first time Gaga has openly expressed her desire to become a mother in recent years.

After Polansky, 42, popped the question, Gaga spoke about her dreams during an interview with Access Hollywood.

“I really want to be a mom,” she softly revealed with a smile. “The greatest vision I have is that.”

Gaga is already prepared to allow her future kids to follow their dreams.

“That’s something Michael and I have talked about a lot — allowing our kids to be their own people,” the singer told Elle in January. “It’s such an intense thing for kids coming into the world.”

Gaga added, “And they’re told how to think and what to believe in and how to eat … I just kind of want to let my kids find out who they are.”

The interviewer also noted how having children humbles you as a parent, to which the actress quipped, “Oh, I’m ready.”

Gaga has even mulled how her kids would handle her stardom.

“I would want my children to understand that whatever my artistry means to them is totally up to them,” the Grammy winner admitted. “I would never actually want to shape it or tell them how to think about me.”

“Maybe other than that I just did my best. And tried to stay true to myself along the way,” Gaga detailed. “My kid might one day say, ‘Mom, why do you do these things? I saw a funny video of you dressed up.’ Most certainly that will happen. And you know, maybe it’s okay to say, ‘What do you think?’ ”

Meanwhile, just last month the “Abracadabra” artist took home the Artist of the Year award at the MTV Music Video Awards 2025 and gave her fiancé a sweet shout-out.

“To my partner in all things, Michael,” Gaga gushed. “Creating this year with you was a beautiful, beautiful dream. You have been my partner every step of the way. I dedicate this to you, too, my love.”

While talking to Vogue in October 2024, the songwriter said she and Polansky are “right for each other,” despite their differences.

“I had never met anyone like Michael,” Gaga expressed. “He’s so smart and so kind. And his life and my life are very different.”

At the time, the star also revealed just how her other half proposed.

The entrepreneur asked Gaga if he could propose to her before he popped the question during a hiking trip in April 2024.

“We went on a trip together and we went rock climbing. We’d been rock climbing before, which was super fun,” she began while on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” at the time. “He didn’t propose to me at the top. We climbed up to the top, and we looked around, and we took some photos.”

“We went back down and we were just walking back to the room. It was very Michael to ask me if he could ask me. He wanted to know if it was OK to propose before he proposed. I was like, ‘Yes! It’s so OK!’”

Kimmel then asked if Polansky got down on one knee during the proposal, to which the “Shallow” hitmaker replied, “He didn’t. I’m a modern lady, I like what he did.”

“He had the ring in his backpack so it was so super cute,” she said. “He got into his backpack and pulled it out.”

As for her nuptials, Gaga confessed nothing was set in stone yet.

“I don’t know what we’re going to do. We’re not exactly sure yet,” she explained. “We actually talk a lot about just going to a courthouse just the two of us and [then] ordering Chinese food. But also, knowing me, it could become like a circus with unicorns.”
