Woman, 75, killed steps from her Brooklyn home by hit-and-run driver who blew light

A hit-and-run driver blew through a red light and killed a 75-year-old woman just steps away from the victim’s Brooklyn home, police said Sunday.

The driver was zipping north on Seventh Ave. in Sunset Park when Judith Byron tried to cross at 41st St., cops said. Byron had the walk signal but the driver went through a steady red light, hitting her and knocking her to the pavement, cops said.

Medics rushed Byron to Maimonides Medical Center but she couldn’t be saved.

The driver sped off and has not been caught. Cops believe the vehicle may be a silver SUV.

About five hours later, a hit-and-run crash left a pedestrian critically hurt in Queens, cops said.

A Toyota Sienna driver crashed into a man at Hillside Ave. and 168th Place in Jamaica about 2:45 a.m. Sunday, cops said.

That driver sped off east on Hillside Ave. without stopping and has not been caught.

Medics took the victim to Jamaica Hospital in critical condition with injuries including broken ribs, cops said. Police were working to determine his identity.
