Man found dead in car in Queens after parents tell NYPD he is kidnapped, $10K ransom

A 36-year-old man was found dead in his car in Queens — two hours after his parents told cops he had been kidnapped and held for $10,000 ransom, police sources said Tuesday.

Jose Rodriguez was discovered dead slumped behind the wheel of his black Honda Civic parked near 123rd St. and 89th Ave. in Richmond Hill about 10:10 p.m. Sunday, cops said.

Police don’t know how Rodriguez died and are investigating whether he was actually kidnapped. The city Medical Examiner is conducting an autopsy.

Two hours before he was found, his parents showed up at the 106th Precinct stationhouse and told police they had received phone calls from someone claiming Rodriguez had been kidnapped and demanding a $10,000 ransom.

Police used license plate readers to then find Rodriguez’s car, sources said.
