Teen girl charged with killing 17-year-old in Pennsylvania

A 15-year-old girl has been charged with fatally shooting a 17-year-old inside his family’s apartment in Pennsylvania, officials said.

Precious Hamilton, who will be tried as an adult, is facing counts of third-degree murder, involuntary manslaughter among other offenses in connection with the death of Baseem “Sevyen” Baker, the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office announced Tuesday.

Officers with Abington Township Police were called on Monday to a residence on the 100 block of York Road in Jenkintown, NBC Philadelphia reported. When they arrived on the scene around 5 p.m., they discovered 17-year-old Baker dead on the bedroom floor from a gunshot wound to the head, police said.

The victim’s family told investigators that Hamilton, from Crum Lynne, had recently been staying with them in their apartment. Baker’s mother said she left the pair alone around on Monday around 2:40 p.m. to run errands with her other child. When returned home a couple hours later, she said found the door unlocked and her teen son unresponsive.

During a subsequent investigation, authorities uncovered a video on Baker’s iPad that showed Hamilton holding a small handgun and “dry firing,” which means firing a gun without ammunition, officials said. One of Baker’s cousins also claimed that Hamilton had recently showed him the firearm as well as rounds of live ammunition.

Hamilton was being held at the Montgomery County Youth Center. No further details, including a motive, were provided.
