Long Island man charged with beating brother to death

A Long Island man is accused of beating his brother to death in his home in Inwood, Nassau County police said Tuesday.

Anthony Iacomino, 46, was charged with second-degree murder in the killing of his brother, 52-year-old Joseph Iacomino, cops said in a press release.

Iacomino pleaded not guilty at his arraignment on Tuesday, Newsday reported. He was ordered held without bail in Nassau County jail and is due back in court on Thursday.

Police officers responded to a home in Inwood, just southeast of Kennedy Airport, around 5 p.m. Monday and found an unconscious man suffering from “visible blunt force trauma,” Nassau County police wrote in a news alert. The man, later identified as Joseph Iacomino, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators determined a “violent domestic incident” had occurred at the residence and identified Anthony Iacomino as the killer. He was arrested at the scene, according to Nassau County police.

Cops have not yet released any further details about what led to the altercation or the exact nature of Joseph Iacomino’s injuries.

The younger Iacomino was already facing a prior misdemeanor charge for obstructing someone’s breathing, according to Newsday. That victim has not been publicly named.

At his arraignment on that charge in August, Iacomino pleaded not guilty and was released on his own recognizance, the outlet reported. A temporary protection order was granted, and he was scheduled to return to court in the case on Oct. 31.
