EAGLES at GIANTS
8:15 p.m., Eagles by 7 ½, 40 ½
HANK’S HONEYS: The task only gets more difficult for Jaxson Dart after his comedown in New Orleans. It’s his first taste of an NFC East rivalry. And this isn’t exactly the week to be facing the Eagles. The defending champs have underperformed all season, a fact driven home by their loss to the Broncos Sunday. They’ve been hearing all about Super Bowl hangovers. But check out their list of opponents. The Giants are by far the worst team they will have faced, providing them with an opportunity to make an emphatic statement in front of a national TV audience. Look for them to forced feed Saquon Barkley after giving him only six carries and nine touches against Denver. He had only one shot at his old team last year (sitting out the regular season finale), silencing the boo birds with 17 carries for 176 yards at MetLife. The Eagles need to re-establish their identity and with the Giants run defense ranking 29th in the league by allowing 5.6 yards per carry, Barkley is due to go off. Once he does, Jalen Hurts will see single coverage against his talented group of receivers. The Eagles have owned the rivalry recently, winning 19 of the last 23 meetings SU and many in dominant fashion. Dart will have his moments — he’s got talent — but he’ll be ultimately shackled by the Giants’ lack of playmakers with Malik Nabers and Darius Slayton sidelined.
IF I WERE A BETTING MAN: Eagles and the over.
