Start ’em, Sit ’em advice for NFL’s Week 6

The Buffalo Bills’ all-white “Cold Front” uniforms are the worst thing to come out of Buffalo since the guy that put ketchup on wings. A Josh Allen version retailed for $189 before the stunning 23-20 loss to the Patriots. Today, it can be had for $3 and a ham sandwich. These uniforms are obviously cursed: The Bills scored their fewest first-half points in two years. Their 14-game home win streak? Over. Their NFL-record 26 straight games without losing the turnover battle? Gone. Matt Milano, their defensive MVP? Tweaked his torn pec. And just to twist the knife, former Bills malcontent Stefon Diggs had 10 catches for 146 yards.

I tweeted at halftime that the Bills should set these uniforms on fire at midfield. Better yet, shoot them into the sun.

GIDDY UP!

QB Jayden Daniels vs. Bears — Daniels was effective but not spectacular last week against a stiff Chargers pass defense (231 yards, 1 TD). The sledding will be much easier against the Bears and their 28th ranked pass defense, setting up Daniels for his best totals of the season. This one could be fun.

QB Matthew Stafford at Ravens — Remember when fantasy owners would avoid starting players against the dreaded Ravens’ D? Those days have gone the way of the buggy whip and rotary phones. Trot out Stafford against a Ravens secondary that surrenders 270 yards and almost three TDs a week to QBs.

RB Ashton Jeanty vs. Titans — Hopefully you followed my advice and avoided Jeanty last week (67 rushing yards). But you can hop back on the Jeanty bandwagon and enjoy the ride as he tears through the wafer-thin Tennessee run defense.

RB Quinshon Judkins at Steelers — Starting a Browns RB is like buying sushi at a gas station — risky with a chance of regret. But the two-toned-tressed RB became just the fourth RB to log over 110 yards against the Vikings since Week 9 in 2023. He’ll get that much and more against Pittsburgh.

WR Emeka Egbuka vs. 49ers — Who needs Mike Evans and Chris Godwin when you’ve got Egbuka slicing and dicing through secondaries every week? The stellar rookie averages 116 yards and a TD per game. Peek-a Boo-Ka will be a sight to see against the 49ers.

WR Marvin Harrison Jr. at Colts — In between occasional drops, Harrison has done well enough to sit just outside the Top 20 WRs in fantasy scoring. He’ll hold on to enough footballs to help you win this weekend against his Hall of Fame father’s old team.

TE Jake Ferguson at Panthers — Fergy is the No. 1 TE in fantasy. And the Panthers don’t seem to bother covering tight ends. It’s enough of a mismatch to make Carolina blue.

WHOA DOWN!

QB Jared Goff at Chiefs — Goff has more ups and downs than the Coney Island Cyclone: 15 points one week, 47 the next. On the road where Goff struggles, in Arrowhead, against a surging Chiefs D? The results might make you throw up. Let someone else ride this roller coaster.

QB Daniel Jones vs. Cardinals — If the resurgent Jones doesn’t score a rushing TD, he’s not a Top 20 QB. The Cards have yet to give up a rushing TD to a signal caller in 2024 and only gave up three since Week 4 of last year. Start Danny on your own dime. He’s on my bench.

RB Derrick Henry vs. Rams — King Henry had 169 rushing yards in Week 1. In the next four games, he’s had 148 combined. Something stinks in Baltimore, and it’s not coming from the Inner Harbor. The stench is coming from the 50-yard line of M&T Bank Stadium in downtown Baltimore.

RB Kenneth Walker III at Jaguars — Zach Charbonnet obviously has naked pictures of the Seahawks’ coaching staff. How else can you explain why the inferior Charbonnet (132 yards, 2.8 yards per carry) constantly out-touches Walker (330 yards, 4.8)? Bench Walker. Avoid the torment.

WR Calvin Ridley at Raiders — Is Ridley (131 yards) back? Not so fast. His 10 targets were the most he’s had all year because the Titans were in catch-up mode in the second half vs. the Cards. The Titans-Raiders game will be a plodding, low-scoring affair. Let Ridley excel again before you chase the points.

WR Jameson Williams at Chiefs — A disappointing “Giddy Up” last week, the Lions’ Williams plays more like Nala than Simba. Whichever Disney cub you prefer, I can’t feel the love tonight.

TE Dalton Kincaid at Falcons — Kincaid is the No. 2 TE in fantasy, but he faces a lights-out Falcon squad that has allowed just eight receptions to TEs on the season. Temper your expectations.

Thursday Night Special: Rookie Jaxson Dart has played admirably. But after losing to the lowly Saints, it’s wise to remember these are the same old Giants, with an over-matched coach with an under-manned roster. Philly cruises in a laugher. Eagles 28, Giants 14
