Four people, including two children, were found dead inside a San Francisco home under “suspicious” circumstances, police said.
Officers with the San Francisco Police Department on Wednesday were called to carry out a welfare check at the residence, tucked along the 900 block of Monterey Blvd in the Westwood Highlands neighborhood. When they arrived on the scene just after 1:20 p.m., they found “four unresponsive individuals who were declared deceased on scene,” police said in a press release.
While few other details have been provided, authorities have called the deaths “suspicious” and confirmed “criminal action” had occurred. They also noted that it was likely an isolated incident, and that there does not appear to be any lingering threat to the general public at this time.
None of the dead have been identified, but authorities told ABC News 7 that two of them were children.
Belinda Hanart, who lives next door to the home where the bodies were found, said she was left “in shock” by the grisly discovery.
“There was no noise, nothing, and I think it was the most disturbing part, we didn’t hear anything,” she told the news station.
“Nothing. We knew it was a family of four with two girls,” Hanart continued. “The older one was probably 12 to 13 years old and a dog, and it was a very normal family with a normal family routine.”
An investigation into the matter is ongoing.
