Brooklyn apartment fire leaves man in critical condition


A fire that erupted inside a Brooklyn apartment building left a man fighting for his life Thursday morning.

The blaze ignited in a fourth-floor apartment in a building at Avenue I near E. 19th St. around 7:11 a.m., firefighters said.

Firefighters pulled the injured man from the building and he was rushed to Staten Island University Hospital in critical condition, the FDNY said.

One firefighter was treated for minor injuries.

The flames were brought under control shortly before 8 a.m. The cause remains under investigation.
