Years after leading the cast of “House of Gucci,” Lady Gaga is set to appear in the upcoming sequel to “The Devil Wears Prada.”
The Oscar-winning actress and pop star is said to be filming her role in the midst of her Mayhem Ball Tour, according to Variety. She was reportedly spotted in Milan, where production is currently taking place.
It’s unclear whether the “Joker: Folie à Deux” star will make a cameo as herself or play a fictional character.
The hotly anticipated — and slightly feared — follow-up to the 2006 predecessor sees Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci reprising their respective roles as Anna Wintour-inspired Miranda Priestly, Andy Sachs, Emily and Nigel.
While little has been disclosed about the movie as a whole, photos of the cast have been rolling out for months, and the costumes alone have led some to worry for the fate of the film.
“The Devil Wears Prada” is adapted from Lauren Weisberger’s 2003 roman à clef of the same name. It centers on bright-eyed young journalist Andy, who’s told that a year serving as the assistant to Runway editor Miranda will open all the professional doors for which she feels better suited.
The sequel, confirmed in summer 2024, began filming this June and is slated for release next May. David Frankel will once again direct, with a script penned by Aline Brosh McKenna, who co-wrote the original alongside Weisberger.
