Kidnapping of Wichita, Kansas woman captured on shocking video

The apparent kidnapping of a Wichita, Kan., woman was captured on home surveillance video, and police were still searching Tuesday for clues in the incident.

The horror movie-like video shows a woman outside a home around 2 a.m. Sunday when she’s snatched from behind by a man. The woman yells “Kevin!” at the top of her lungs, then the man hauls her away from the home and toward a street.

“Our main concern is the safety and welfare of the woman seen in that video,” Wichita Police Chief Joe Sullivan said Tuesday at a press conference.

Cops released the video Monday afternoon on social media, adding they’ve been unable to identify the woman or the man seen in the terrifying clip.

The homeowner, who shared the video with police, told local NBC affiliate KSN that she didn’t recognize the woman who was abducted outside her house. She said she rarely checks her surveillance cameras.

“Something just told me to look at it,” she told NBC News. “And I normally don’t look at it, and something told me to look, and I saw it.”

Authorities have offered a $2,000 reward for tips that help them identify either the man or the woman seen on the video.

All local missing persons reports from October do not match the apparent kidnapping, and police officers swept the area twice but came up with nothing, Sullivan said Tuesday. Nine initial tips also turned up no new leads.
