A 29-year-old man has died eight days after he was bashed in the head with a bottle in a random gang attack while out celebrating Halloween in Queens, police and friends said Thursday.
Victor Luis Cáceres was assaulted by several people in front of a Subaru service center on 57th St. near Northern Blvd. in Woodside about 3 a.m. Nov. 1, cops said.
Cáceres was struck over the head with a bottle, a blow that cut his head and ear. Medics rushed him to Elmhurst Hospital, where he died Saturday.
“On Halloween night he went out with some friends and was a victim of an unprovoked attack,” family friend Giovana Basaldua wrote on a GoFundMe to cover funeral expenses.
The attackers fled and have not been caught. Cops could not immediately confirm whether the attack was unprovoked, as the family friend is saying.
“Victor was an amazing man, friend, son and brother,” Basaldua wrote. “He was helping his mom financially, supporting her with every day bills and needs. Victor was his brothers’ biggest supporter. He NEVER missed an event. He supported them in everything they done and was the financial support they needed for them to achieve their dreams in futbol (soccer) and in school.”
The victim lived in Budd Lake, N.J., according to cops.
