Pedestrians injured, one critically, after box truck plows into them near Madison Square Garden

More than a half-dozen pedestrians were injured Monday — with one in critical condition — after a box truck driver careened into a parked vehicle and wound up on the sidewalk in midtown Manhattan, police sources said.

The box truck was traveling north on 8th Ave. when it struck a parked white van, jumped the curb and slammed into as many as eight pedestrians around 4 p.m. near 8th Ave. and West 30th St. in Chelsea, the sources said. The collision was two blocks way from Madison Square Garden.

EMS transported the injured pedestrians to Bellevue Hospital, where one was in critical condition, the sources said. No one else involved in the crash suffered life-threatening injuries, the sources said.

The box truck driver stayed on scene, cops said.
