Bad news in the Baldwin household.
Ireland Baldwin got candid on her famous parents, dad Alec Baldwin and mom Kim Basinger, days before her 30th birthday.
Ireland took to Substack to write a blog titled “30, Flirty, and Surviving.”
On Monday, the model’s post described how she “grew up without two parents in my home and no siblings to turn to.”
Alec, 67, and Basinger, 71, tied the knot in 1993 before separating in 2000. They finalized their divorce in 2002.
“I move into 30 with a lot less weight on my shoulders,” Ireland continued. “This weight that was brought on by the need to continue to carry my narcissistic, unreliable, addict family members who I thought I needed in my life.”
“I had a lonely childhood at times, which is why I grew up feeling like I needed to win over certain people in my own family. For whatever reason, their validation and praise was meaningful to me. Nothing was more freeing than finally realizing how poisonous these people are,” she wrote. “So, I inch into my thirties with an understanding that this is how you break these cycles.”
Ireland noted that she did this so her “daughter doesn’t have to know these people, and I can protect her from them.”
“I can do my very best to construct my own idea of a family, piece by piece. And show how a real family treats one another.”
Ireland welcomed daughter Holland, 2, with musician RAC, whose real name is André Allen Anjos, in 2023. While highlighting that joy in her blog post, she also confessed that she suffered “10 years of pain. 10 years of not knowing what the hell I am doing or talking about, but still running my mouth anyway.”
Some lessons Ireland learned over the past 10 years included: “Don’t be ashamed of who you really are. I wasted so much time pretending to be someone else for a partner, to get a job, to get s—ty people to like me, etc. I would give anything to get that time back.”
“You can’t change or fix anyone. Period. They have to want to change. And chances are they won’t. So quit while you’re ahead,” she added.
Ireland also touched on her relationship with Basinger, writing, “Tell your mom you love her every single day. Text her when you get to where you’re going. You will soon understand her in ways you never had.”
She addressed her body insecurities elsewhere in the post, sharing: “You are not fat. You are not fat. You are not fat. You are not fat. You are not fat. You are not fat. You are not fat. You are not fat. You are not fat. You are not fat.”
Concluding her heartfelt blog ahead of her birthday on Thursday, Ireland said, “I can’t speak for the vastly, ever-changing world around me. I can only selfishly focus on my own road. I hope to find my people. My village.”

In April, Ireland shared a sweet photo of Alec and her daughter in honor of his birthday. Ireland wrote, “Happy birthday to Peepaw. I’m so glad you were born. Because of your born-ness, I was born-ed. I love you!”
A month prior, the actor said on his reality show, “The Baldwins,” that the “most regrettable” part of his split from his ex-wife was how the legal battle “negatively impacted” his relationship with Ireland.
The Emmy winner noted that they now have a “good relationship.”
Alec went on to tie the knot with Hilaria Baldwin in 2012 and the couple shares kids Carmen, 12, Rafael, 10, Leonardo, 9, Romeo, 6, Eduardo, 5, María, also 5, and Ilaria, 3.
In September, Ireland shed light onto her close knit bond with Hilaria, 41, as she was competing on “Dancing With the Stars.”
“I wanted to take a second to talk about my step mom @hilariabaldwin. I think if people actually knew her the way I do, they would be quite surprised,” she penned. “Hilaria has had a far more complex and chaotic upbringing than she lets on and I think that’s why we’ve maybe bonded in someways? She didn’t always feel safe and seen. Sometimes, she is too loyal to a fault. She is eccentric and totally bat sh-t crazy (in a fun way) but she saved my dad’s life. She turned his health around and has shown him the forgiveness and kindness that he needed. She also recognizes and nourishes the parts of my father that are the most compassionate and wonderful.”
Ireland also credited her stepmother for being the reason she now has her own “close relationship” with her dad.
“She is the reason I get to have siblings/a big family that I’ve always wanted,” she noted.
Hilaria took to the comments section, sweetly responding, “I’m crying. I love you with all my heart, @irelandirelandireland ❤️. These words mean so much. You mean so much to me 💙.”
“I know that I’m her stepmom, but she’s like my dance mom,” the author told The Post after week two of “DWTS.”
“So she’s sending me … notes. She’s sending me things every single day and I just feel very lucky to be pulled into this huge family that is very close. I am very grateful.”
