A 45-year-old New Jersey teacher has been arrested and charged after allegedly sexting a 13-year-old student.
Lorri Ann Willis, of Hackettstown, is accused of sending “sexual and suggestive text messages to a 13-year-old child who was her former student from June 2024 through October 2025,” the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office said Friday.
According to authorities, the Chester Police Department received a report earlier this month of “alleged inappropriate behavior by a teacher employed by the Black River Middle School.”
While speaking with alleged victim, Chester police were told that Willis had sent a picture of her breasts covered by a bra and gave the victim gifts including a ring, according to an affidavit obtained by People.
Willis was subsequently taken into custody and charged this week with one count of endangering the welfare of a child and one count of luring. She’s currently being held in the Morris County Correctional Facility pending future court proceedings, prosecutors said.
Willis has also been suspended from her position at Black River Middle School, which lists her on its website as a teacher in its science department.
The Chester School District superintendent reportedly told parents in a letter that they’re taking the matter “very seriously” and that there’s “no indication that there is any current risk or threat” to any other students.
