Suspect turns himself in for shooting death of autistic man in Bronx park


A suspect turned himself in to police Monday for the September shooting death of a 26-year-old autistic man in a Bronx park, cops said.

Luis Alberto Lopez Castillo, 19, surrendered at the 43rd Precinct stationhouse in the Bronx. Lopez Castillo was charged with murder, manslaughter, robbery and criminal possession of a weapon for the Sept 4. shooting incident of Ronell Marte who was shot in the chest in Starlight Park near West Farms Road and E. 174th St. about 2:50 a.m., police sources and cops said.

Medics rushed Marte to St. Barnabas Hospital, where he died. He lived just a few blocks from the park, according to cops.

Lopez Castillo was homeless, according to cops. His arraignment in Bronx criminal court was pending Monday evening.

He had one prior arrest from July for a robbery in Queens.
