Four arrested for attempted murder following Coney Island shooting

Four men have been arrested for the crazed Coney Island shooting in which at least 25 shots were fired and two people were wounded, police said Friday.

Responding officers grabbed the four suspects after their getaway vehicle crashed on Ocean Parkway, a short distance from the Thursday shooting by Surfside Gardens, a NYCHA housing complex on W. 31st St. near Surf Ave., police said.

Bullets struck a 22-year-old woman in the buttocks and a 32-year-old man in the right hand, police said, although it was not immediately clear if they were the intended targets. Both victims have arrest records, a police source with knowledge of the case said.

The wounded woman was found inside a nearby Surf Ave. apartment when cops arrived at the scene, the police source said.

A nearby public school was put into temporary lockdown, which was lifted a short time later, police said.

Investigators recovered 25 shell casings at the scene. Two guns were used in the shooting cops said.
