NYC man dressed as cop pulls knife at NJ Halloween party

A Staten Island man dressed in a cop costume was arrested Friday for allegedly brandishing a real knife and making threats after he was barred from entering a Halloween party in New Jersey, officials said.

John Bekhet, 19, is facing several charges — including terroristic threats and unlawful possession of a weapon — for his role in the alleged incident in Gloucester County in the early hours of Friday.

According to the Glassboro Police Department, officers responded to the 300 block of North Main Street shortly before 2 a.m. for a report of a knife-wielding man who made threats after being denied entry to the party.

“Ironically, he was dressed as a police officer,” a Glassboro police spokesperson said in a news release.

Law enforcement officers patrolling the area quickly located the suspect, later identified as Bekhet, and arrested him following a brief foot chase, police said.

The knife used in the alleged altercation was also located nearby, according to the GPD.

Bekhet was booked into Salem County Jail and charged with terroristic threats, obstruction, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and weapons offenses.

Glassboro, in South Jersey, is about 20 miles southeast of Philadelphia.
