A Long Island couple was arrested Friday night and charged with violating county social host laws after a massive house party with drinking teenagers was reported at their home.
Philip Bacarella and his wife, Rita Baccarella, both 51, are accused of allowing minors to consume alcohol during a party at their Dix Hills home. Suffolk County police arrived at the home around 9:40 p.m. after multiple complaints about the party and reports of a possible overdose victim.
Hundreds of teenagers were at the house and in the surrounding neighborhood, with a large tent and portable toilets set up outside. A social media post about the party indicated admission was being charged with more than 500 guests expected.
Two 16-year-old girls, who did not live at the residence, were found suffering symptoms consistent with alcohol poisoning. The Dix Hills Fire Department took both to Huntington Hospital for treatment.
Both Bacarellas were charged with allowing consumption of alcohol by minors at private residence prohibited and two counts each of endangering the welfare of a child. They are due in court in Central Islip on Nov. 20.
