Two women were stabbed Wednesday morning inside a day care center in Philadelphia’s Germantown neighborhood, police said.
The incident took place shortly after 10:30 a.m. at Ya-Ya’s Place Family Daycare on the 5700 block of Germantown Avenue, Philadelphia police told the local ABC affiliate WPVI.
Two female victims, whose names have not been released, were taken to Albert Einstein Medical Center in stable condition, officials said.
Both women are reportedly employees of the facility, a law enforcement source told CBS Philadelphia. One was stabbed in the hand, while the other suffered a stab wound to the stomach.
The incident appeared to be a domestic dispute that escalated outside between one of the women and a man, who allegedly chased them inside the day care center.
No one else was involved, police said. Children were reportedly inside the facility at the time of the double stabbing but did not witness the attack.
However, a woman who went to pick up her child after the incident said her daughter had blood on her clothes.
“It was on her shoes and coat, that’s it, that’s all I know,” the woman told NBC10.
Ya-Ya’s Place provides a “nurturing, engaging and safe environment” where children from infancy to pre-K can grow, learn and thrive, according to a description on its website. The facility has served the Philadelphia area for more than 10 years.
A spokesperson for the business did not immediately respond to a request for comment Wednesday afternoon.
