Two of comedy’s most youthful performers turned 75 and 80-years-old this year.
And they’re not showing any signs of slowing down any time soon.
Steve Martin and Martin Short just announced they’re extending their ongoing ‘The Best of Steve Martin and Martin Short Tour’ with special guest bluegrass group Jeff Babko & The Steep Canyon Rangers into 2026.
The latest expansion will send the funnymen to nine new North American cities from January through April; they now have 21 shows booked in total on their ’25 and ’26 itinerary.
That includes their Dec. 4 gig at Albany, NY’s Palace Theatre.
As for what to expect should you take the plunge and attend a show to see the pair live, the “Only Murders In The Building” stars trade digs at one another and joke at “a rapid-fire pace with little setup and big punchlines (that) mock Hollywood and the fickle nature of celebrity” at all shows. They’ll also show off their individual talents, which means Martin, 80, plucking his trademark banjo while Short, 75, dusts off his Jiminy Glick getup.
“… celebrity vehicles often feel complacent; this one is immediately more mischievous and lighter on its feet,” The Guardian noted in a rave review of Martin and Short’s live show.
“A variety show weaving together standup and conversation, music and song, it’s at its best when the Two Amigos are exchanging affectionate insults. They have a fine line in mutual mickey-taking, whether that’s Short mocking Martin’s pale complexion (‘In the 80s, I think I tried to snort you’) or Martin feigning concern for Short’s career slump, which lasted ‘from 1972 until last week.’”

With four seasons — and four suspicious deaths solved — under their belts, the “Only Murders” crew will investigate yet another shocking end to a friend in their fifth go-round.

A lost finger, casino night, modern-day mob and new batch of potential suspects are all major comic set-pieces in the tense yet funny teaser.
Meryl Streep, Michael Cyril Creighton, Nathan Lane, Richard Kind and Da’vine Joy Randolph reprised their recurring roles while Christoph Waltz, Keegan-Michael Key, Dianne Wiest, Renée Zelwegger and Téa Leoni pop in for guest arcs.

Steve Martin/Martin Short “SNL50” monologue
Setting the tone for “SNL50” was no easy task. In order to match the moment, the presenter needed to be simultaneously biting, of the old guard and relevant in today’s comedy landscape. Of course, Steve Martin was the only logical choice to deliver the monologue.
In just under seven minutes, with the help of John Mulaney, Martin Short and more, the funnyman spouted off great lines about “the Gulf of Steve Martin” and “how a person born during the first season of ‘Saturday Night Live’ could 1762446851 be dead from natural causes.”
